As a SMART public transit rider, you have the right to:

  • Peace of mind. Only police officers and those with valid permits may carry a concealed firearm.
  • Smoke-free trips. No smoking – including vaping – is allowed in or near buses or shelters.
  • Clear aisles. Riders may not travel with oversized bags, packages, strollers or other items that block aisles.
  • Peaceful rides. No excessive or annoying noise is permitted.
  • The company of your pet. Pets in enclosed carriers are welcome on all buses.
  • The company of your service animal. Service animals are permitted when leashed and not occupying a seat.
  • Arrival at your destination. Aimless riding is not permitted; trips shall not exceed two hours.
  • Priority seating for those in need. Passengers are asked to kindly offer their seat to anyone pregnant, experiencing disability, or over the age of 65
  • Harassment-free rides. Riders shall treat one another respectfully at all times.
