WalkSMART is a free program designed to increase walking among residents and employees in Wilsonville. Although the primary goal is a reduction in vehicle miles traveled by substituting walking trips for driving trips, the program will also seek to advance the goals of related efforts.
How does it work?
Participants receive a pedometer and a log book to write down their daily step counts. They also receive information on the benefits of walking and tips on safe walking. At the end of each month participants turn in their cards. Walk SMART participants who turn in the monthly cards on time are eligible to win monthly prize drawings. Participants who stay with the program for a year, the pedometer is theirs to keep.
Who can participate?
WalkSMART participants must either live or work in Wilsonville. Participants must also agree to wear the pedometer and keep track of their steps.
How do I sign up?
If you are a Wilsonville resident, either stop by the Wilsonville Community Center or the SMART office to pick up your kit and sign the participation agreement (pledge) form. If you are a business and would like to set up an employee program, please call: 503-570-0332 or send an email at marston@ridesmart.com.
